I was craving my mother's muffins, but I did some googling and found that flax meal is a gluten free swap for wheat bran, and I had that, so I tried the old recipe with gluten free flour blend and flax and it was delicious. I've also eaten like 24 of them in the past 2 weeks. So I'm going to take a bit of a pause on baking them XD

I got rid of the old TV today (13 years old, the very first and only TV I bought myself) I was somewhat loathe to let it go because it was a perfectly functional dumb TV, but we don't need two TVs in the little apartment we have. And Freecycle got it gone in under 24 hours.

I also got rid of a bunch of partially used hair products that didn't really work for my hair. I felt guilty throwing them out, but someone picked them up on Freecycle. Hopefully some of them work for them!

Relatedly I ordered 4 new products to try and got a full size of a sample I had bought earlier that I really liked. And was one of the reasons I got rid of one of the other products - I thought it worked as a leave-in until I tried the new one, which worked so much better!

My parents are visiting at the end of the week, so yesterday was getting my sewing projects into a place where they could more easily be put away and out of the dining room (which worked out to pieces all cut out) and so the rest of today is going to be making almost final steps on the office reorg so they have a tidy place to sleep.

Our local Joann's has five days left before it closes, unless it completely runs out of everything before then.

In related news, guess who has two thumbs and impulse-bought ten yards of fleece featuring sharks spyhopping. I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with it, but like. It was only $15. I am very, very, very weak to that kind of deal.

(Note to self: Do something with Avery and Zeek and spyhopping; it would be adorable.)

seeking housemates

Looking for housemates in Minnesota

I've been living at my childhood home, a hobby farm in Minnesota, taking care of my dad. Soon my dad will be moving to assisted living, along with my mom who is moving there from the nursing home.

I'll be staying at the farm and looking after the animals. I'd rather live here with other people, as it's safer and more fun. I have multiple disabilities which make managing a whole farm rather difficult on my own. I've had a couple of seizures which make it safer for me to have people around me. Minnesota is one of the better places to live right now in the US and this could be a good opportunity for someone to live here.

So, if you know of anyone that would like a nice place to live, please direct them my way, especially queer and trans people looking for a relatively safe place. There is a lot of space in the house (3 full bathrooms, 4 bedrooms), and plenty of outdoor space.

I have one cat and one dog in the house, and outside there are a few sheep, one aging horse that is strictly a pasture pet, and some guinea fowl. Amenities include a dishwasher, laundry, wifi, some streaming services, 2 gas fireplaces. This is a wonderful place for hobbies such as gardening, woodworking, fiber arts, baking, etc. In addition to the house there are some outbuildings and a nice garden shed. Opportunities for fishing, golf, biking abound in the region.

Couples (+) are welcome as are kids. There is a good elementary school just a few miles away.

The house needs a bit of work, but overall it's very nice and peaceful. One thing I do contend with here is bugs. There is no central AC but we can do window AC units when needed. Sometimes the dog barks in an annoying manner (we are working on it). I could use help with mowing, weeding, cutting brush.

You could live here for cheap as I mostly am looking for company and help. I can't live with smokers due to my disabilities. I have lived with roommates for most of my life and can provide references.

The house is rural but only a few miles from the nearest shopping area, and close to a small city. You would probably need to have a car, though we can get grocery delivery here.

My interests include watching TV shows and movies, gardening, science fiction, jigsaw puzzles, thrifting. I'm a queer woman in my 40s. I'm a rather extreme night owl.

May Theme - Deep Clean

We've almost reached the third week of May and so the next focus is Deep Cleaning the bathroom. It's time to spend a bit of extra time on the grout or maybe the shower door. Make sure you lift those bath mats and give them an extra wash this week or take down the shower curtain. Maybe it's the plugs and ensuring that you've given an extra clean to clear the drain of any lingering products.

Whatever the thing is that you need to focus on in your bathroom, let us know how you get on with that extra bit of time spent on your deep clean.

Request for Testing of Another Website

Hi everyone. Several years ago I posted here requesting assistance with some websites. Now I'm back to do the same thing. About 2 months ago I received an email on a list to which I am subscribed, regarding a website that was being launched about Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. They wanted people to sign up for their newsletter, but as I recently found out there is a problem. Actually 2 problems on the site, but I'll get to the other one in a bit. The newsletter sign-up form uses CloudFlare, which I believe Dreamwidth used at one point for security purposes or something like that. I might open a support ticket regarding this, but thought I'd ask here first. I've only encountered CloudFlare a little bit, but each time I attempted to fill in that form a box popped up prompting me to verify myself. I tried dismissing this pop-up to no avail. The verification checkbox is a good alternative imho, but it seems this one has been incorrectly implemented. The other problem on that website is with the forum registration. There is evidently some kind of CAPTCHA on the registration form, which was hopefully meant to be accessible for screen reader users such as myself. But there's some kind of site owner error. I attempted to contact them via their contact form, but again was met with that CloudFlare pop-up. I'm wondering if any of you who don't use screen readers could check out the website and see what happens. Oddly enough, it seems a couple of forum posts were made there, which to me seems impossible given that there is a forum registration. The website in question is http://www.title2.info , and I was able to read a few news articles on there but nothing else.

summer of the 69

Oh yeah...

Today is the final day to vote in the 2025 Summer of the 69 Theme Poll!

There are currently eleven "front runners", with two tied for first place; I'm honestly not planning to vote myself this year, since everything is so close, but I guess we'll see if the poll gets any more votes before tomorrow morning.

If all the ratios stay the same through the end of the poll, more votes or not more votes, I'm going to go ahead and do double themes for the last of the "middle ten". IIRC, the bottom rung of themes last year had a lot more in it than this year currently does, though I'd have to double check.

So yeah! That's how things are over there right now.

I've (finally) made it about half an hour into the final chapter of SVSSS book three and I just want to give Luo Binghe all the (platonic) hugs 😭

Also ZZL. Boy deserves some of his own. ~~Planning to get him laid for Sot69, at least.~~

Edit: 45 minutes left in the last chapter before the extras. Possibly the exact point where things start looking up again. There's no audio version available for Book 4 that I'm aware of, so I'll have to read said extras silently, but to be honest I'm looking forward to it. Bring on the happy ending, please and thank you!

Successful day today, and I got 12,000 steps, which is a big improvement from my usual several hundred (working from home means minimal steps).

I got out to the mall to pick up some things (polident for my night guard, dry shampoo to see how well that works at my hair) and couldn't find a nice spring coat but that's okay.

I stopped by side-gig bosses place to do some in person stuff, then hit up a variety of treat places (comic shop, bulk barn, then the place with the Good deli counter for sandwiches stuff).

Now I'm home and tired XD

I have a sewing project, but I cut out the draft in scrap fabric and it's not the right size. Fortunately it's too big rather than too small so I can trim it down, so I need to figure out the best way to resolve that without messing up the bust cup. I'm going to need to draft down between sizes I think. Either way it became Complicated so I'm letting it think about it's sins.

I might try and get some writing done tonight? We'll see
